The belt conveyors have many advantages over other types of bulk material handling equipment. Some of the advantages are:
- Belt conveyors are capable of handling a wide range of bulk materials from very fine to large lump sizes. Very fine materials such as portland cement are loaded at terminals using belt conveyors. Large lump size materials such as coal are transported from mines using belt conveyors.
- The belt conveyors can be designed to handle capacities for any operation. It is common for belt conveyors to unload ships at capacities up to 10,000 tons per hour. Belt conveyors can also be designed for batching operations or to convey a small amount of material between processes.
- Belt conveyors can be configured to fit almost any application. A belt conveyor can convey material horizontally, on an incline or a combination of both. It is common to use a single belt conveyor to transport material horizontally a certain distance, then elevate the material on an inclined section of belt conveyor and then horizontally again.

Belt Conveyor
The belt conveyor in
ZM Automation is mainly used for continuously or interstitially
convening powder and granular materials. It applies to the height
difference in transportation and can achieve continuous transportation,
which is used for horizontal conveyor and other connected devices; The
angle of elevating conveyor belt is not more than 13 degrees in general
situation.
The belt conveyor in ZM Automation can transport all kinds of materials efficiently and economically. During the production, the belt conveyor can act as a link among the machines, realize the continuity and automation of the annual ring and increase the productivity rate as well as reduce the labor intensity. The belt moves according to the principle of friction drive, which has the advantages of large transport capacity, simple structure, easy repair and normal components. Furthermore, since the belt and the materials have little relative motion, the noise as well as the energy consumption becomes very low. In addition, since the structure is simple, it is easy to repair.
The belt conveyor can work within the temperatures ranging from 20℃ to 40℃. The temperature of the transmission materials should be below 50℃

Belt conveyor at ZM Automation
Belt conveyor consists of two or more pulleys, with a continuous loop of material - the conveyor belt
- that rotates about them. One or both of the pulleys are powered,
moving the belt and the material on the belt forward. The powered pulley
is called the drive pulley while the unpowered pulley is called the
idler. There are two main industrial classes of the conveyor belt
; Those in general material handling such as those moving boxes along
inside a factory and bulk material handling such as those used to
transport industrial and agricultural materials, such as grain, coal,
ores, etc. generally in outdoor locations. Generally companies providing
general material handling type belt conveyors do not provide the
conveyors for bulk material handling. In addition there are a number of

An under layer of material to provide linear strength and shape called a carcass and an over layer called the cover. The carcass is often a woven fabric having a warp & weft. The most common carcass materials are polyester, nylon and cotton. The cover is often various rubber or plastic compounds specified by use of the belt. Covers can be made from more exotic materials for unusual applications such as silicone for heat or gum rubber when traction is essential.
Material flowing over the belt may be weighed in transit using a beltweigher. Belts with regularly spaced partitions, known as elevator belts, are used for transporting loose materials up steep inclines. Belt Conveyors are used in self-unloading bulk freighters and in live bottom trucks. Conveyor technology is also used in conveyor transport such as moving sidewalks or escalators, as well as on many manufacturing assembly lines. Stores often have conveyor belts at the check-out counter to move shopping items. Ski areas also use conveyor belts to transport skiers up the hill.
